setting up or finding a eco-friendly community

looking 4 people who have lived or planning on living in a eco-community.

Location

Near the equator preferably central or south america or a caribean island

within walking

distance to the ocean, river and waterfall.

Near or in a reserved nature,Area.

safe surrounding area with little or no crime

stable government

Access to

Transportation

public bus/boat ideal

limited taxi/car

food

prefer raw vegan, minimum vegetarian

drink

natural spring water

coconut water

bath

hot springs

technology

access to the Internet available but not promoted or to  easily accessible

Collaboration

with locals is important possible transportation/ education, local food production, forging, adventure hiking

Atmosphere

vipassana like

open, honesty, free from commercialism. Donations what you can or think it

is worth 4 u 4 visitors/ fair work exchange training program

A sign up sheet for things that need to be done.

(This is a concern 4 me to think about and makes me a little hesitant to have to large of a community)  I want to be with people who want to contribute and enjoy what they are doing and who they are doing it with.  I do not want to be in a position to ask someone to do something they do not want to do in terms of participating in the communities living . (hopefully we can find a good place or an example to address this) possibly screen or setup an application or fact sheet honest strait forward web site and what is expected of guests and residents.

freedom to explore,expand

Community based daily silent meditation (Prior to dinner is a good time)

daily yoga

yoga teacher training

Meditation retreats,workshops or guided instruction

herbal medicine and natural healing workshops

Then time frame right now ideally I would like to move in 7 or 8 years

at least for the winters.

possible locations that need to be researched/visit

What r your thoughts concerns or ideas add to my categories or make new ones

regarding living in a community in the future?

Hi Nick, I must say that I am very interested, however have not made any concrete moves in that direction. I have been doing a lot of work on myself, yet find myself still wading through some difficult times in my physical circumstances. I have done some traveling, however this was before I was consciously keen on this topic, but I feel it has influenced me quite a bit. Since then I have gotten more seriously into spiritual studies as well as natural living, and the low fat raw vegan diet is one thing that has helped me transform immensely, working on a bio-physical level as well, helping me to clean me out and evolve on all levels. So I have come to value this way of living, and would love to live in a place that is more accommodating to it. Also having a community of people who share the same values and pull towards evolution and co-creation is very attractive to me. I don't personally know anyone who has lived in a similar community, but I feel that many people would like something similar. I personally would like to learn more about permaculture, and specifically fruit-based permaculture, both of which I don't know much about yet, only dabbling in the garden so far... But for now I am just trying to take it one step at a time and focus on first things first... but all of this is definitely, constantly, in the back of my mind. I am still young, at 26 years old, so it seems I still have some things to work through, but I feel I have a lot to contribute (as well as so much to learn!), and it is hard for me to have the patience all the time, especially in these times we are living in. But I must do the best that I can, one day at a time... I am definitely on the lookout, though, as to what people are up to, so I will surely not keep the info to myself if I learn of something interesting. I am glad to be connected here.

Re. the eco-village-retreat I am looking forward to resume discussion; lately Espen mentioned two alternative places: Norway or USA Oregon, idea is to establish a retreat center for teaching and practicing meditation, yoga and related methods. My idea is we initiate a Skype group meeting with Espen and some others to check the current status. What do you think?

Hi Nick! Glad you joined up here. Please repost your eco-community vision also in the village-group, so we can discuss further. Espen (the founder of this site) and few other members present here are very sincere about the idea of starting an eco-village-retreat very soon. I am happy to hear more of your ideas and suggestions. Let's do it;-)

Hello Nick! Thanks for the friendship. I have not been too active on this site, but do think it's wonderful and would like to participate more. I too am very interested in this kind of eco friendly community living and hope to manifest it as a reality in time. Nice to meet you!
