Personally was Alan Watts the first one I heard talking about enlightenment. Then, after few years, discovered Eckhart Tolle and it helped to me to open a 'new world' ..indeed. After him, I've been and still am, following also the teachings of Mooji, Osho and Ram Dass. And you, what's your experience?
My favorite is definitely David Hawkins. I've found that reading his books is a very powerful meditation, and pretty much quiets the mind right down. But aside from him I generally stick to teachers from days past because I've found that most of today's teachers just aren't quite at the same level in comparison.
The best (easiest to read & understand) ancient Zen teachers I've discovered are Bodhidharma, Huang Po and Bassui. From the Hindu side, Nisargadatta Maharaj, Ramana Maharshi, Ramakrishna, Vivekananda, Gandhi, and the classic Bhagavad Gita are my favs. Then from the Christian side, Meister Eckhart, St John of the Cross, St Teresa of Avila, Mother Teresa and a book by an unknown author, "The Cloud of Unknowing." The famous Tao te Ching, A Course in Miracles and the Buddha's Dhammapada are all wonderful too.

Yes, I have also been very moved by Ram Dass many times.. he reflects that deeper beauty of a life lived here in the 'realm of suffering' as he calls it ~ and so well. My life was absolutely changed years and years ago by Robert Monroe b/c it was shocking to me that someone out 'there' in the world actually spoke this weird 'language' of life outside the body... that's when I started to get much more interested in finding those people who were traveling a little bit off the beaten path... which in turn led me on so many journeys of discovery, I cannot even count them all, ahaha.
